13 Groups went out to tackle
the trails at Paragon. Kyle Knosp, General Manager, orchestrated
trail routes & guides so there were no traffic jams and folks
experienced the park like if their group was the only one in the
park (a job well done).
At 7:30 AM, Grizz, with other
volunteers, collected donations & waivers while Kyle and his
crew were lining up the rigs. Suzie was serving breakfast and of
course raffle tickets were being sold.
The raffle table was soo impressive,
it looked like a 4-wheeler's dream. 4WheelDrive Hardware, Quadratec,
Sun Performance Parts & Ok 4 Wheel Drive went all out.
After the raffle, the groups
headed to the trails. Group after group left the staging area. Everyone
was well into the park when the first snow drops of the seasons
started to fall.
Around 12:30, you could hear
horns saluting America after reports were heard on radio that the
Coalition had begun bombing in Afghanistan. Over 268 rigs came together
to show their support while the official war started. It was an
uncanny event.
Offroading in an event that
was providing monetary support to a Relief Fund from terroristic
attacks, while following initial retaliatory attacks from our side
heard on the radio from the trails at Paragon, was a real American
experience.
Around 4:30, groups headed
out of the park. Some went home and others headed to Ridge Ridge
Campground for a home style BBQ hosted by 4x4wire.com.
October 7th will be a day to
remember.
